"More than lived up to and indeed surpassed them [my expectations]. I didn't put it down until I had read every page and I have to say I can relate to everything except the trip to Mandalay which I didn't undertake. I had many friends in Rangoon and I am still friendly with Sir Michael and the Bibby family so will be showing him and Lady Christine the book next time I'm in Liverpool (about three weeks).
